I know this is Vegetarian Cooking and Tips month, but I couldn't resist posting this link to some new research on sitting, watching t.v. and sedentary lifestyle. The most interesting part of the study is the fact that even exercising an hour a day may not be enough to counteract the effects! Not only does too much sitting, including internet surfing and watching T.V. cause weight gain but it makes the body and mind sluggish and the mood of a person more prone to depression. It contributes to feeling even more unmotivated than you may have felt once you sat down to begin with!
We may not have a choice to sit and do work, but we do have a choice as to what to do before and after work. There are ways to avoid sitting for upwards of 12 hours per day or more. Take a look at your lifestyle and see, how much do you sit in one day and how much do you sit in one week?
